A short history of the Jafar Character

Jafar is the villain of the movie Aladdin. Jafar is the evil sorcerer and the former grand Vizier of the Sultan of Agrabah. Jafar is the protagonist of the move Aladdin where he made his first appearance in 1992. Jafar is bent on becoming the most powerful genie in all of existence through obtaining the bottle of the genie.

Jafar does obtain his powers after a battle with Aladdin to save Princess Jasmine’s life. Jafar obtains his powers, but at a cost of being entrapped inside his genie bottle. Jafar was created by John Musker and Ron Clements. He was voices by Jonathan Freeman.

• Jafar’s original character he was based upon never served as the role of the villain until he was cast into the film Aladdin.

• Patrick Stewart, best known as Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek: The Next Generation regrettably turned down the role of voice actor for Jafar due to scheduling conflicts with Star Trek.
